The Pentax K-x is a new camera that was announced just a month ago. The announcement said that it comes in the usual black colour along with white and red options being available. Now we hear that a new version has been launched in a Kore Ja Nai Robo toy set of colours.
The colourful model of camera resembles the toy robot that was first introduced in Japan back in 2001 and aims to be more of a fun entry level digital SLR camera. Other than the fancy colour casing there are no other differences on this camera. [click to continue…]
Nikon have made the D3S official now. When launched it will cost just shy of $5,200. With a price tag like that you can expect a very good quality camera. The Nikon D3S is an upgrade to the older D3 model. Nikon have said that it’s the most significant S upgrade they have made.
Inside the new camera has a 12.1 megapixel camera with a full frame CMOS sensor. Also a dust reduction system can be found inside. The camera has an effective ISO of an impressive 102,400.
The camera can capture video also at HD in 720p mode at 24 frames per second. However, it will not capture video at full HD. The camera is being pitched as working well in low light situations with Nikon saying it can capture things your eyes can’t even see. [click to continue…]
Flip Video have announced a new Flip Mino HD camera that doubles the storage capacity making it possible to store two hours of video, and ads a larger screen that bumps it up from 1.5″ to 2 inches in size.
The whole camera has had a revamp including newer and more responsive touch-sensitive buttons, a more sleeker look and a HDMI output.
The software on the Flip Mino HD has also received an upgrade and now gives the option for users to send footage direct to Facebook. The interface has also received an upgrade and now presents more organised clips for you to search through. Hasselblad are launching their latest camera named the H4D. The H4D is a 60 megapixel camera that uses a true off-centre autofocus system…
…known as True Focus. Where even DSLRs often have to first focus and then reposition the camera to get focus significantly away from the center, the H4D has a yaw rate sensor that can detect the horizontal and vertical movement away from the focus point and refocus the lens to compensate.
A few weeks ago we mentioned the Canon EOS 7D was launching soon. A video has arrived on the net showing exactly what sort of 1080p quality you can expect from this camera. The video’s were captured by Dan Chung and filmed in low light using a 1600 to 6400 ISO setting.

Amazon have a great deal today (only) on the Aiptek A-HD 720p 8 megapixel HD camcorder. The HD camcorder is capable of capturing images that are 1280 x 720 pixels in size at 30 frames per second. The camera is on offer for $79.99 which is $20 cheaper than the list price.

We heard this morning that Nikon are now discontinuing the Nikon D300 digital SLR camera that has been a great camera since it’s launch. The Nikon D300 was recently replaced by the D300s. The D300 was a little behind in these last days in that it couldn’t do video but there are mixed feelings on DSLR’s needing to do video anyway.
The D300 was first launched in August 2007 and now that it’s not being built any more we could see prices dropping on the camera while stocks are finally depleted. Wired managed to get some time with the new iPod Nano announced yesterday. The new version of the nano now includes a small camera allowing you to capture video. Video on the new nano is captured in standard definition and although we’d all like to see HD captured these days it’s still a decent upgrade and welcomed.
The nano measures 3.6″ tall x 1.5 inches by 0.24 inches, so is very handy to carry around as an MP3 player and have the option of capturing video if needed. Please note that the iPod Nano doesn’t capture still images, or at least, it can’t be done yet. [click to continue…]

The Frankencamera is a gadget that allows you to build your own open source applications for the camera. It was created by Marc Levoy who is a professor at Stanford and Andrew Adams.
Levoy says the megapixel was is over and now we are just left waiting to see what the next feature will be every time a new camera is launched. The open source camera lets you mess around with the camera settings and create your own features. With it being open source you can let the experts create the features and then you simply just download them. This means that there will be no more waiting around for companies to innovate. Over at IFA in Berlin the Panasonic Lumix GF1 was on display. The camera is a Micro Four Thirds camera that has a compact body, a built in flash and can shoot HD video at 720p.
